such a surreal experience to be surrounded by like minded individuals. joked to travis that people here didn't think we were stupid for loving running this much. as eventful this years western states was, i feel the true beauty was how the community driven this niche hobby is. from adam from tantrums letting us take a shower in his airbnb, maya offering us blankets to keep warm while we slept out in the parking lot, to the volunteers cooking up free food at placer high for everyone that was at the finish line. western states truly encapsulates what running is about. i left western states re in love with running and in loss for words for how beautiful and memorable of an experience it was.
