forest hil

forest hill. when you get to forest hill, there are a few things you can expect to find. Hundreds, maybe even thousands(?) of people tailgating like it's the superbowl. hoka selling $26 tri tip sandwiches. an unhinged scott jurek. a nike acg wrapped rivian, and if you're lucky enough and the acg cult think you are cool, they'll give you a food ticket for free tacos (we did not receive a food ticket, but we did raid their coolers for all their red bull and cold brew). it is a wild, fun environment. when the runners come through, everyone lines up on both sides of the road and cheers them on. they typically run through with their crew and like a 4 person film crew as well. they will get to their crew station, swap packs out, get dunked in water, sometimes even flop down into a lil kiddie pool, and take off. they're like in and out in seconds. like lil race cars at a pit stop. but you probably already knew this because of how widely broadcasted it is. we wanted to get a run in, but the runners this year were so damn fast that we didn't want to miss the action and just did not find the time. so we watched a good amount of runners fly through, watched a most likely drunk local with a crazy look on his face drive right through the course (no one was harned), waited anxiously for jim but he dropped, then headed down to auburn to the finish line to see the action unfold.
